I just realized that there is a "shatner on sex" tag, and a "look at his butt" tag. Busy going through those entries now. :)

lol what can we say, he really wants to make love to everything! and his butt is a sight to behold.

haha love those sex quotes - he is hilarious! I'm sure he's pansexual -- I remember reading a message board a long time ago and there was someone posting there - a guy - who said he had sex with shatner back in the '70s. Apparently Shatner told him that it was the first time he was having sex with a man, but by the way he went at it, this guy thought the Shat had more experience than he was saying!

I'll look around to see if I can find those posts.

Seriously!? or are you thinking of that rock and roller guy? at any rate, he did say he was capable of a wide range of sexual fantasy, and he is a man who tries everything at least once, so who knows!

LMAO XD that just hilarious, but Bill is a fast learner so it probably was his first time LOL! oh, and did that guy say if Bill was a top or bottom? I just can't picture Bill as a top :3

UGH! I hope that's not true. I'm sorry but I can't believe it or picture it.

Well, he certainly loves women way too much to believe that! and as I mentioned in past posts, I just can't see him lusting after men, let alone love them! he might experiment a little, but not to the extent to make him an expert! I'm still laughing at that guy's observation XD

Haha I'll look for the posts - I can definitely believe it - the late 60s/70s was the age of free love after all, and bisexuality was very trendy at the time. Plus Shatner obviously equates everything with sex, from flying a plane to sitting in his garden at his ranch. If he has a fantasy of making love to every member of his audience, it's not too far a stretch to say he would be ok with experimenting with a man.... he certainly has on screen chemistry with both men and women as well, which slash writers picked up on and which he himself played into on Boston Legal.

I certainly don't think he's gay - he obviously loves women, but I wouldn't be surprised if he tried stuff with men as well. I bet if he were 50-60 years younger and part of my generation, he would be more open about all of this. He already drops hints here and there - like he does about his toupee - despite his age!

That's so funny! yeah, I'm sure he included his male fans among the audience, besides he didn't seem to have problems with kissing men or even admiring their physique, he also seems to have a soft spot for drag queens!

He's master at male/male on-screen chemistry, even as a guest-star! and you're so right about those gay hints, I especially liked his comments on that athletic guy on "Does this thrill Bill?" and Jay Leno saying how this is a side of Bill we never saw before, and Shatner saying and never will see again XD

I found the posts! Apparently there is something on this in the Encyclopedia Shatnerica as well? Iggy Pop's male guitarist apparently says in there that Shatner hit on him. Anyway - will post a link when I get to a computer - I'm writing this on my phone right now.

Ah! I thought so! I first read about it in "Captain Quirk" and the author did say that it was the afterall the 70s, and Shatner probably like the rest of Hollywood stars was experimenting.

So far that's the only allegation I read about Homo!Shatner.

Nicholas Robinson tonbo@dsuper.net Thursday, June 27, 2002 at 15:07:54 (PDT) Montreal, Quebec Canada

Concerning the story about Bill's gay one-night stand:

Ron Asheton, the gutarist for punk rocker Iggy Pop, claims that, in the summer of 1975, Shatner made a pass at him in an L.A. bar.

Shatner supposedly approached him in the Hyatt House pub. "He wanted me to sit down, then he got kind of grabby," Ashton claims.

Horrified that Captain Kirk might be anything less than straight, he fled the scene. "Probably if I'd been drinking I would have sat down just for the weirdness of seeing what would happen," Asheton says.

(From "The Encyclopedia Shatnerica" by Robert E. Schnakenberg)

Here is the post I remembered -

I know this will come as a shock to many people, but I'm going to let out a secret that I've been harboring for many years. Back in the late 1970s, I was a close friend of Bill (actually a friend of a friend, but we were together quite a bit). Bill, my friend and I did quite a bit of miscelaneous drugs together, mostly cocaine. One night we had been up for a few days when Bill suggested that we try something different. We proceeded to have sex together (yes... homosexual sex). Shatner claimed this was something he'd never done, but by the way he went at, it I rather doubt it. It only happened that night, but the truth of the situation remains: I was William Shatner's homosexual lover for one night. By the way, R. Mason is an alias, so don't bother going to the press with this if you intend for me to come forward.

Wow!! it's so ridiculous that it might actually be true? he's just so hyper and playful and clearly enjoys sex immensely, so it shouldn't come as a surprise if he acted out some of his sexual fantasies, with Bill you just never know...

What bothers me the most is "he did drugs." LOL I refuse to believe it. :)

If he were on drugs or drunk then anything could happen. Probably didn't even know or remember what he was doing anyway.

That guitarist probably had very very long hair... If such incident did happen, it's probably a case of "mistaken identity". :)

That guitarist did say that Bill was drunk when he started hitting on him, that incident was first mentioned in "Captain Quirk" and the author of "The Encyclopedia Shatnerica" took a lot of the stuff written there and put it in his own book.

I just can't see him lusting after men

Hahaha, what about all that slash fiction you encouraged time ago? And don't tell me that this was just about inanimate objects. ;)

Yes, I read that he'd been experimenting a lot in the 70s, I always understood that this was about both drugs and sex. So vvatima's find does not come as a surprise. You don't have to LOVE a person to have sex with them. I think that goes for most of his female sexual partners as well.

What is love anyway? He claims to love the world, so why not embrace every opportunity? "Say yes" is his message.

After all, he just happens to like women better than men.

Actually, I'm really surprised that he never played a truly gay character. I mean, even Nimoy did...
zainin666
Oct. 23rd, 2011 01:36 pm (UTC)
Because he's always being gay even when he was playing it straight :P? remember Brokeback!Shatner? XD and what about Captain Kirk Space Queen? I was honestly surprised they let him get away with that!

Anyways, I think this is the closets we ever got of Shatner playing a gay character.

Of course I remember Brokeback!Shatner... I mean ... I coined that term, didn't I? And it was me who uploaded that Virginian and Barbary Coast stuff.

But still, there's no serious approach to an intentionally gay role and no ambitious film like e.g. The Intruder or Nimoy's Deathwatch that deals with homophobia.

Please don't tell me that he tried to make a political statement with Barbary Coast...

Haha well it's not too late - maybe he still will do that. You know that he would accept the role of a gay man now if someone offerered it to him.

Ya there is an androgynous, effeminate quality to a lot of his work which, along with his 'say yes to everything message' and his stance on free love, makes me think that he's gone at it with both sexes! I mean, back in the '60s when he played Kirk, the usual male hero was much more traditionally masculine than his approach to Kirk was. It's that androgynous quality that I find sexy about him - especially back in his younger days.

lol I can see Captain Kirk and Luke and his other characters being playful and seducing men, but not Shatner the man himself, he might use his charms on some of them and admire their physique and even kiss them on the mouth, but to actually initiate a sexual act, and be on top, that I don't see.

Thanks for these pictures. I enjoyed reading Bill's quotes on that particular subject. :) I admit I don't care much for romantic stuff but anything about Bill is different and interesting. However I assume none of us here would like to be his wife. ;)

So, women would come to his trailer to "discuss" the romatic music he's playing. Interesting observation.

And telephone sex mentioned in a 60s magazine? I'm surprised. *gasp*

There's so much to be read between the line. ;)

This got to be the most shocking 60s article I have ever read on him.

His mood change needs to be examined, I can't believe how happy he gets once he has a "woman to love" and he so shamelessly indulge in it!

"Excuse me, but I have to go and make love"

Oh, Bill.

That was a fascinating article about Bill and how he LOVES mini-skirts. It was the 60's things that were written back them wouldn't fly today.

He's such a romantic OMG and a tiger all in one! I'm sure that phone at the studio rang off the hook for him knowing he was single and Bill having the actress of the week on the set.

Let me tell you know one is a better kisser then Bill I saw it close and in person. At a WSF Weekend back in the 80's a member paid a lot of money for an autograph picture of Bill all going to charity. He shook her hand and thanked her then he looked at her and pulled her in slowly and kissed for on the lips for a few seconds. She said he didn't use his tongue but teased her with it. OMG!!!! She was ready to faint and everyone there was left with mouths open for awhile. He's so smooth and knows what women like.

When that time machine is ready give me a ring. ;)

OMG!! thank you so much for sharing that story! jeez I got so hot just from reading that! *fans herself*

I hate romantic movies let alone watching actors kiss! but dear lord... Shatner has certainly caught my attention when he kissed, I just love the kind of kisses he uses on the lady of the week on Star Trek, I noticed how gentle he is with virgins and how forceful he is with experienced woman, and that kiss with the android was really great, it just combined both the gentle and forceful kiss to truly overwhelm her and break her down XD but it was one of his kisses on T.J. Hooker that made me have my first sexy Shatner dream *blush* I really loved that kiss... however it's his kissing scene in Kingdom of the Spiders that is my absolute favorite, only because he teased her a couple of times before he leaned in and kissed her! he is SUCH a tease and I LOVE IT *siiiiiiighs*

Married way too young
Bill just got married way too young. Wasn't Gloria older than he was. About the ladies, yes he loved to kiss them, and oh so tenderly he did. But Bill was a very lonely man. He hardly had any friends in school, hell he even sent Valentine's Day cards to himself, to make him important. So self esteem was there, I am sure. So to be able to be an actor you can pretend that you are the best at what you do. And he was in a profession where he could reinvent himself constantly.

I think when he was seducing all the women, he was really seducing himself, or how he would love to be loved. That is how lonely he felt. Always to have someone, never ever wanting to be alone. A man, always needing someone, and that horrible fear he had and still does...his fear of death. He is a very complicated man.

About the gay stuff...I can't help but watch how he checks out Capt. John Christopher in the episode Tomorrow is Yesterday. If you haven't seen that episode in a long time go check it out again...but it is apparent HE IS CHECKING HIM OUT...and he's also looking at Spock too in that episode, licking his lips in one scene...no girls in that episode, and this persistent hard on he keeps getting on the set. Watch the episode Obsession he has one there, on the bridge as he walks in Spock's direction.

Did Bill not mention in his autobiography that on two occasions men hit on him.

One time is when he ended up in New York..and went to a play or something ..there were go go girls and some guy offered him a ticket ...and he accepted...and he was enjoying himself, up until the guy started touching his knee and he ran out of the theater so fast....

The other occasion was also a play of some sort and he had to wear a jacket. The guy said he had one that would fit him...As he walked in with the guy the man closed the door and to Bill's shock there were other men, and one said...Oh, he'll do nicely...and Bill proceeded to run around a table for quite awhile before escaping their clutches...

So Bill has that look even some men can't help but to be drawn too.

Did he do it with that guy...only Bill really knows...maybe he'll shock everyone in his next bio and say he did...but it was a different era back then...love...love was the motto...so who knows..

Now, Bill is happy. With a woman who is not an actress. And things for him have finally come full circle...it takes a long time to find that person who loves you for who you are. Warts and all. And in the process Bill, I think likes himself a bit more...

Thanks for this wonderful article...great read...xox
